Our Platforms
CITES Workstation Services Group currently supports Solaris, Linux, HP-UX, Irix, AIX, and Mac OS X. We will consider supporting other unix-like operating systems, subject to staff availability and expertise. Contract and hourly services are available for both servers and workstations.
Our Responsibilities
We will install and maintain the operating system as outlined under Comprehensive Coverage or Assistance Coverage, as well as fix system-level problems.

We will install application software in accordance with applicable licensing agreements. While we are comfortable with certain applications (such as the Apache Web Server), there is simply too much software on the market to be able to make a blanket statement of support. Therefore, depending on the software and nature of the request, we will install application software, but site-specific customizations may be the responsibility of the customer.

We will act in accordance with applicable laws and University policies and reserve the right to cancel a contract when the actions or requests of a customer conflict with our responsibilities as information technology professionals at the University of Illinois.

Customer responsibilities
Customers are expected to follow practices which ensure that systems meet minimum best practices for management and data security, and that systems follow the standard WSG practices and guidelines.
Financial Matters
Maintenance contracts last for a period of one year. Payment is due within two months of the start or renewal of a contract. Contracts begun in the middle of the fiscal year will be prorated. If support is terminated prior to the ending date specified in the contract (typically July 1—the beginning of the University's fiscal year), CITES WSG may retain funds already paid for the contract term.
