UIwpa2: WPA2-secured Wireless Access

Choosing between UIwpa2 and UIUCnet Wireless

When you're looking for wireless network connections on the Urbana-Champaign campus, you may notice that your computer locates a wireless network called UIwpa2 in addition to one called UIUCnet.

The UIwpa2 wireless network is also a part of the UIUCnet Wireless service. However, the two networks offer different security types, configuration types, and support.

UIUCnet Wireless connections are simple and widely available. UIwpa2 requires manual configuration from the user, isn't available in all campus locations, and isn't supported by all computers. However, if your system can connect to UIwpa2, you won't need to add QuickConnect or the CITES VPN to your connection process the way you do with UIUCnet Wireless.
