Numerous user groups exist for individuals interested in computing topics. The following list consists of campus and community groups. This is not an authoritative nor an exhaustive listing. Association for Computing Machinery UIUC Chapter The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) is a student group consisting of a variety of people with various backgrounds who share a common interest in computers. ACM is open to all students, faculty, and staff at the University of Illinois in all fields. acm@uiuc.edu
ACM Special Interest Groups (SIGs) At the core of ACM is a large group of Special Interest Groups (SIGs). These groups meet weekly and discuss specific areas of computing. If you are interested in getting involved, simply show up at your SIG of interest's weekly meeting. A small sampling of active groups includes MacWarriors, SIGUnix and WinDevils. ACM SIGS Home
!bang !bang is the official social computer science organization. !bang does not compete with any existing organizations, but rather provides an entirely different experience to computer science students at the University of Illinois. bang@cs.uiuc.edu
Champaign-Urbana Computer Users Group The Champaign-Urbana Computer Users Group (CUCUG) was formed in 1983 to promote computing and education for users of personal computers. CUCUG currently supports Macintosh, Windows and Linux personal computers. This organization is not affiliated with the University. rrollins@cucug.org

Information Systems Association (ISA) ISA is focused on helping students learn more about the IT industry, explore career options, network with IS/IT professionals and recruiters, meet other students with similar goals, and find out information on IT classes offered at the University. kkaufman@uiuc.edu
Personal Computer Users Group at UIUC All are welcome to attend. All software that runs on Intel, AMD, or compatible architectures can be discussed at meetings (e.g. DOS, Windows, Linux etc.). markz@uiuc.edu
Society for Technical Communication The Society for Technical Communication (STC) is the world's largest professional organization--over 25,000 strong--dedicated to the advancement of the theory and practice of technical communication in all media. The University of Illinois Webmasters The University of Illinois Webmasters offers an open mailing list and numerous special interest groups. timo@uiuc.edu
Women in Computer Science The Women in Computer Science (WCS) student organization at the University of Illinois' Department of Computer Science is dedicated to supporting the efforts of young girls and women who are considering pursuit of a career in computer science. ziemians@uiuc.edu
