Description

Illinois Compass, powered by WebCT Vista, is an enterprise learning management system that gives faculty, instructors, students and others a collaborative online space offering tools for managing and delivering course assignments, tracking and publishing grades, and keeping course material available to students outside the classroom walls.

Who can use this service

Faculty, instructors, and teaching assistants may request a course site after completing the training requirement.

When the service is available for use

Supported Service Hours:
Twenty-four hours a day, excluding the maintenance hours listed below

Maintenance Hours:
5:00 A.M. to 9:00 A.M. Wednesday

What you must have in order to use the service

  • All who use Illinois Compass must have a NetID and NetID password.
  • Instructor/designer training is recommended, but not required. Email edtech@uiuc.edu or visit the EdTech Training for more information.
  • Students must be enrolled in a course that is being taught by an instructor who has attended Illinois Compass training.

Instructors should contact Illinois Compass specialists by emailing edtech@uiuc.edu or calling (217) 333-1078.

Students who encounter problems with logging in to Illinois Compass should ask their instructor to verify that they have an account. If the account does not exist, the instructor should contact edtech@uiuc.edu.

Any student or instructor who is unable to log in to Illinois Compass due to a password issue should contact the CITES Help Desk (244-7000 or consult@uiuc.edu) or visit the CITES Password Page.

Students and instructors can also find many helpful documents on the Illinois Compass help resources web pages.

Cost

A subsidy provided by the Provost on behalf of the campus allows CITES to offer this service at no charge.
