Urbana, IL -- CITES is pleased to announce the appointment of Mike Smeltzer as
Director of Network Communications, effective March 24th, reporting
to Stan Yagi, Assistant CIO for Information Technologies. In this
new position, Mike will focus on coordinating campus input and
collaboration on the Campus Network Upgrade project, as well as
on broader ongoing network issues.

Mike comes to us from McLeodUSA, where he was the local Operations
Manager. In that capacity, he worked with the campus on a variety
of voice and data projects. In addition to working in the communications
industry, Mike has been a faculty member in the UIUC Department of
Journalism, and publisher and general manager of Illini Media
Company.
