Academic Deans' Liaisons (ADL) Charter

Academic Deans' Liaisons Charter

The Academic Deans' Liaison (ADL) Group is made up of a subset of the associate deans and others identified by the Deans as liaisons to the Campus Network Upgrade Project planning process. The membership was selected by and advises the CIO, on the advice and review of the Provost.

Goals

  1. While each college will establish its own building priorities and approaches to addressing space and other associated issues, this advisory group will review and vet priorities that go across colleges, including advise the CIO (within the priorities set for each college) regarding which buildings are upgraded in what order over the life of the project.
  2. The group will review and advise on issues that may affect meeting upgrade deadlines, especially those that depend on prioritization or timeframes determined by others (e.g., in relation to F&S-related deferred maintenance or capital projects) or those impacted by major space or facilities issues. (Examples: inadequate building power may require a much larger project than is needed for the network upgrades alone.)
  3. The group will advise the CIO where additional resources or priorities changes may be required to address special cases, whether because of extreme space limiations impacting communications equipment room design or other factors.
  4. The group will play a key role as well in advising the CIO and Provost, if there are significatn changes to the timing or requirements for the project over time.

Reporting

The group will meet once per quarter or more frequently, at the discretion of the chair or the CIO. The group will document its advice, including any rationales, as part of an open-campus process that informs and appropriately consults the associate deans, deans, and the campus community. The CIO will review the progress of the group with the Provost and with the network project liaisons/associate deans of the colleges on a regular basis.
