Ethernet Networking
High-speed Ethernet networking is available from many locations on campus,
including University Residence Halls. Many buildings on campus are also equipped
with Walkup Computing stations where you can plug your computer into the campus
network for quick access even without a wireless network card. Most computers
now come with Ethernet network ports built in, so you’ll be ready to
go when you get to campus and have an Ethernet cable. If you need to purchase
an Ethernet networking card to install in an older computer, we recommend a
10/100-capable Ethernet card in order to take advantage of the high-speed UIUCnet
connection.
