Purchasing a New Computer

Perhaps you’ve decided to purchase a new computer, but you’re not exactly certain what to buy. Be sure to select a computer that will take care of at least your basic needs for word processing, spreadsheets, email, and Internet access (including graphics). Make sure the computer can be upgraded for future capabilities, especially memory.

You’ll also need to decide whether you want to buy your computer before or after you arrive on campus. For instance, you may need to delay your purchase for financial reasons or because you can't bring it with you for some reason. If you choose, you can purchase your own computer on-campus from the Micro Order Center and have it conveniently delivered directly to your University Residence Hall room. More information about the Micro Order Center is included later in this tutorial.
