Not Bringing a Computer to Campus

go to navigation

If you aren't bringing a computer to campus, you will have a variety of on-campus computing resources available to use.

CITES ICS Computing Labs

Instructional Computing Services (ICS) labs are available to all Illinois students. These labs contain current computer software, hardware, and audiovisual equipment. Each lab is staffed by site consultants to assist you with the lab's equipment and software. All ICS labs include both Dell PC and Apple iMac systems that run the software used in classes, as well as popular commercial software like Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop.

For more information on the ICS labs, including their locations and hours, please visit the CITES Instructional Computing Services page.

Other Computing Labs

All University Residence Halls have computer centers, open 24 hours a day, for resident use. These labs offer computers, scanners, and high-resolution laser printers. For more information on computing in the University Residence Halls, please visit the University Housing's Technology page.

Students in the College of Engineering have access to the Engineering Workstation (EWS) labs. Some other University departments also have computer labs available to their students. Contact your college or department for more information.

Printing

You can print to the University Residence Hall printers from the residence hall lab computers. Charges are applied to your printing account, and you can check your account balance online. You can also use the laser printers at any of the ICS labs for a small fee.
