New firewall groups

CITES > news > new firewall groups

The campus firewall groups have been expanded to offer two new groups that make remote administration of firewalled machines simpler from off campus. The new groups resemble the Fully Closed and Mostly Closed groups, but allow a few additional ports for access by commonly used remote administration protocols.

If you are a campus system and network administrator, and you wish to transfer computers from existing groups into the new groups, you can use the same application form as you would use to add new computers. Simply make sure to note on the paperwork that you're transferring computers from one group to another.

For additional information about the campus firewall groups and how to join them, visit Campus Firewalls.
