Network and system administration services are provided as assistance to departmental network and system administrators and managers.

Campus and Community User Groups: A listing of the numerous user groups for individuals interested in computing topics.

Computer Consultant Support Program (CCSP): A group that sponsors a mailing list and periodic on-campus conferences to provide technical support to campus system and network administrators.

Departmental Services (DS): On-site consultants that departments can contract to manage systems and networks and help with technical issues.

Domain Name Service (DNS): Domain Name Service, which maps IP addresses (e.g., 128.174.5.58) and hostnames (e.g., argus.cso.uiuc.edu).

Encap Archive: An archive of software packages for Unix systems in the Encap package format maintained by the Workstation Services Group.

Firewall Services: UIUC firewall packages available to departments.

IRIS: A Bluestem-authenticated Web application that allows network administrators to configure the ports on the switches in their buildings.

Network Design Office (NDO): Consultation, design, and implementation of Local Area Networks (LANs) in campus-related buildings.

Network Time Servers: NTP (Network Time Protocol) servers that can be used to synchronize the time of other computers on campus.

Solaris Software Support Server (docsun.cso.uiuc.edu): Workstation Services Group's server for Solaris documentation and patches.

System Backup Service: Cost-recovery network backup service using IBM's Tivoli Storage Management System (TSM, previously known as ADSM) for CITES-managed systems.

Unix Systems Hardware Group (USHG) Support: Hardware maintenance support on a cost-recovery basis for campus units.

Workstation Services Group (WSG): Unix system administration on a cost-recovery basis for campus units. General technical support, hourly, and contract work for various Unix and Unix-like platforms.
