Using CITES NetFiles Instead of Floppies

This page describes how to access your files at different locations with NetFiles instead of carrying floppy disks.

How can I work on my paper at home and on campus?

Maybe you need to work on a paper during the day between classes and finish it up at home in the evening. Or maybe you have a computer, but you need to take your paper to a computer lab to print. Either way, you need to have access to the latest copy of the paper in a lab and at home.

You could use a floppy disk to move the file from place to place, but floppies are notoriously unreliable, and not all labs on campus have floppy disk drives. Using a CD is an option, but burning a CD to transport a single document is overkill, plus you'd have to burn a second CD to get your file home. CITES NetFiles, on the other hand, is reusable, reliable, and doesn't cost anything to use.

To use CITES NetFiles instead of floppy disks, all you have to do is upload a copy of your document to your NetFiles account, making it available to you on any computer with an Internet connection. Whenever you want to work on it, simply download your paper to the computer you're using (in a lab, at home, or anywhere), make your changes, and then copy the new version back to NetFiles.
