Off-Campus Collaboration

This page explains how to use NetFiles to share files with people outside the university.

Collaborating with colleagues from outside the university often requires sharing and editing files. Emailing these large files often consumes your email quota. CITES NetFiles provides a convenient solution to this dilemma.

Guest tickets

Guest tickets allow you to give access to your CITES NetFiles space to people from off campus. Guest tickets can be created for individual files or entire directories. You can choose whether your guests will be able to edit your files or only view them. In addition, you set a lifetime for the guest ticket, ranging from a single day to several years. Once you have specified the details of the ticket, NetFiles creates a URL for you to email to your guests. For more information on Guest tickets, please see Using Guest Tickets.

Public directories

Documents that do not need security constraints can be stored in your shared or www directories. Anyone can view files in these locations, though they will not be able to edit them. For more information on using your public directories, please see Web Publishing.
