Backups with CITES NetFiles

This page describes how to use CITES NetFiles to back up your data.

As anyone who's lost an important file can tell you, file backups are critically important. CITES NetFiles is an ideal small scale backup solution for most faculty, staff, and students. Not only does it give you a convenient, easy to use storage space, but the NetFiles hardware is monitored day and night by CITES staff so you won't have to deal with lost backup CDs or failed floppy disks.

Single File Backup

For simple backups of only one or two files (e.g., term papers, research data, and the like), the CITES NetFiles web interface is fairly convenient. Simply follow the instructions for uploading a file and you're done. To restore the backup to your local computer, just download the file from NetFiles. You may wish to create a directory that you use strictly to backup your files.
