Virus/Spam Prevention for your Mailing List
This page contains information about antivirus and antispam measures taken for the campus implementation of Listserv mailing lists.
All Listserv mail is filtered for viruses and spam by the CITES Spam Control Service (CSC). This service removes any message that contains a virus.
By default, new lists are provisioned to be under the CSC policy of "No Quarantine", which basically means that, along with viruses, likely and certain spam will be deleted and other messages will be delivered.
If you choose to opt out of the spam deletion policy for whatever reason, you can do so using this form:
https://listserv.illinois.edu/request-form.html
Note: If you choose to disable Spam Control for your list, you will force your list subscribers to receive all email (including spam) that is sent to your list, regardless of their own spam settings. Any messages containing a virus will still be deleted.
Also note: Messages that are redirected to a Listserv address from another address (i.e. example-list@illinois.edu redirecting to example-list@listserv.illinois.edu) will default to the "Tag and Forward" policy.
You can find further information about the CSC policies at the following page:
http://www.cites.uiuc.edu/antispam/overview.htmlThere will be extra CSC email headers added to your list mail, including administrative messages from the server.
