Service Manager (Identity Management)
Role: Identity Management - System Designer
Campus Information Technologies and Educational Services (CITES) is looking for one or more full-time Research Programmers or Visiting Research Programmers (IT Services Developer/Manager) in the Production Application Group (PAG). Service Managers plan, develop, implement and operate production services for a community of about 50,000 clients.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Identity Management team creates and manages the enterprise directories, works with other groups to provision services, provides the infrastructure for authentication and authorization, and provides other services related to the core directories.
Service Managers work independently and coordinate with other parts of our organization to perform initial investigation of a service, develop the service, deploy it in production, and manage its operation. Due to the critical nature of the Directory Services, some non-business work hours may be needed to provide 24 x 7 service availability.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree and at least one year of relevant experience. Individuals receiving a bachelor's degree in the next several months are eligible to apply.
- Breadth of IT knowledge.
- Experience managing software applications on UNIX (preferred) or Windows systems (commercial, open source, or custom developed software applications).
- Good communication and customer service skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
- Strong desire and motivation to learn and stay current with new and changing technologies.
- Creative problem solving skills.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience with directory or identity management services such as LDAP or Active Directory.
- Experience with portals and group management.
- Programming experience in a language such as Perl, C, C++, JAVA, Visual Basic or Shell Scripts.
