Who can use Iris?
CITES > Iris > users
Campus network administrators who are given permissions in
Contact Manager can use Iris to view and/or edit ports on networks
for which they are authorized.
To check which networks you are authorized to read or change, log
in to Contact Manager. In the navigation menu to the left,
select Your
Contact Info. Then, at the top of your contact information
page, select Display
Models for yournetid.
To find if you are authorized to manage a particular network, you
can use Contact Manager's search tools to find the information for
that particular network.
The contact grid's Switch Management column indicates the type
of Iris permissions assigned to each contact person for that network:
either Read-Only, Read-Write,
or None.
Gaining Iris access
If you can't view or change something that you need to view or change
for a certain network, visit the Contact Manager page for that network.
First,
look for a contact person with "Administrative" responsibilities in
the Type field. This indicates the person with departmental
authority to assign personnel to the network.
Next, does the Administrative
contact person have Change
Contacts permission
in the grid? If so, you've found the person you should ask to give
you the read or read-write permissions you need for the network.
If the Administrative contact person doesn't have Change Contacts
permission, look for the Primary contact person. This
indicates a person who has day-to-day operational responsibilities
for the network.
A Primary contact person should be able to
either grant you Iris permissions or perform the required work for
you.
Granting Iris access
If you have been granted Change Contacts permission for a network,
you can use Contact Manager to assign read-only or read-write permission
for that network to other users as necessary.
After a user's permissions have been initialized or changed in Contact
Manager, it takes one business day for the change to take effect in
Iris.
