Services Provided with a Guest NetID
This page describes services provided with a guest NetID.
Guests who receive NetIDs will automatically receive access to the following:
Accounts and lab access
- Enterprise ID
Allows access to Enterprise applications provided by AITS to all three campuses, such as Banner.
- eDirectory account
Allows Instructional Computing Services (ICS) lab access.
- Active Directory account
Allows access to some labs and services, such as CITES NetFiles (online file storage).
- CITES Express Email account
Allows access to the campus email system.
- Illini Union public terminals
Access to on-campus email servers
- Some Bluestem-authenticated services
- Some Bluestem-authenticated services, such as the Library Gateway, allow access to any user with a valid NetID. Other services, particularly departmental ones, require your NetID to be added to a list of approved users. If you need access to a particular service, contact the manager of that service to be added to their approved list.
Network access
- UIUCnet Wireless, Walkup, UIUCnet
QuickConnect, and Campus VPN access
Guest NetID holders use the same login methods as regular NetID holders. With these four services combined, guest NetID holders can access the campus network securely from anywhere in the world, whether through a wireless or wired network.
- UIUCnet Dialup access
UIUCnet Dialup access provides a free, modem-based alternative for users who have telephone lines but not high speed network access at their location. Guest NetID holders receive five free hours per week, with additional time available for a fee.
For information about other services that can be added by arrangement,
