Who can request a short-term Active Directory guest account?

If you're a member of a department whose computer labs use Active Directory for authentication, you can arrange for your guests to have short-term Active Directory accounts that will allow them access to your department's labs.

Note: This will not allow them access to all campus Active Directory resources, only the resources in your department's section of the Active Directory.

How do you request this type of account?

Contact the Active Directory administrator within your department to request guest Active Directory accounts.

What information will you need to provide about your guest(s)?

Although each department's Active Directory needs are unique, certain information is commonly needed:

  • Visitor's first name
  • Visitor's last name
  • Duration of visit

What other types of guest accounts are available?

The University Hosts and Sponsors' Guide lists all the types of guest accounts that are available, including network accounts, computer lab accounts, online coursework access accounts, and more.
