CITES Express Email Web Interface: How to Monitor Your Account Quota

This page contains information about how to check your quota (the amount of email storage space you have) in the CITES Express Email web interface.

This web page is part of an online tutorial series about the CITES Express Email web interface and explains two ways to check the amount of storage you are using.

About Your Quota

It is important to monitor your total account usage so that you will not exceed your quota. Students receive a 100 MB quota; staff have 150 MB. As your account usage approaches quota, you have less room for incoming messages. If your account is at or over its quota, incoming messages will be bounced back to their senders until your account has more space available. For suggestions on how to keep your account under quota, see Managing Your Quota.

Monitoring your quota

When you first log in to the Express Email web interface, you will see a bar at the top of the page that represents the percentage of space your account is using.

You can also click on Account Options in the left navigational menu to view your account's quota and current space usage in kilobytes.

Tip: Remember that the contents of your Trash folder count toward your space usage. Periodically click on Empty Trash in the left navigational menu to permanently remove the contents and reduce your space usage.
