CITES Express Email Web Interface: How to Configure and Use LDAP

This page contains information about how to use LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) to look up people's names and email addresses in the CITES Express Email web interface.

This web page is part of an online tutorial series about the CITES Express Email web interface and explains how to configure Express Email to use the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP). LDAP allows you to search for campus directory information by people's name or NetID.

Configuring Express Email to use LDAP

1. Log in to the CITES Express Email web interface if you have not already done so.

2. Click on the Address Book link in the left navigational menu.

3. Click the Find Contacts link.

4. Click the Directory Services link.

5. Click the Add Service button.

6. Enter the following information:

Description: UIUC
LDAP Server: ldap.uiuc.edu
Search Root: dc=uiuc, dc=edu

7. Click the Done button.

8. You will return to the original Directory Services screen. Click the Done button.

Using LDAP

To use LDAP to find directory information about campus faculty, staff, and students:

1. Click on Address Book link in the left navigational menu.

2. Click the Find Contacts link.

3. Select UIUC from the Find in: drop-down menu.

4. Click the Select button.

5. Enter the person's name or email into the appropriate field.

6. Click the Find Now button.
