Web Interface

  • Secure Socket Layer Technology

Due to the fact that Express Email relies on SSL technology, some versions of web browsers are not compatible with the Express Email web interface. Use this chart to determine which web browser and its version are recommended.

Web Browser
Compatible Versions
Incompatible Versions
Internet Explorer 5.2.3 and above versions older than 5.2.3
Safari all versions none

Desktop Email Clients

  • Issues That Affect Both POP and IMAP

    • Secure Socket Layer Technology

Some versions of desktop email clients are not compatible with Express Email. Use this chart to determine which desktop email client and version to use.

Desktop Email Client
Compatible Versions
Incompatible Versions
Eudora None All versions
Apple Mail All versions None
  • Additional Issues That Affect POP Only

  • No issues other than the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) problem listed above are currently known to affect desktop email clients which use the POP protocol.

  • Additional Issues That Affect IMAP Only

    • IMAP Folders

Some IMAP email clients, including Apple Mail and Eudora, require specific configuration before new folders can be created on the Express Email server. If you use an IMAP client and try to create a new IMAP folder and you receive the error message Permission Denied, you will need to set an IMAP Prefix. For instructions on how to solve this problem, see How to Add an IMAP Prefix.
