Getting Started with CITES Express Email
This page contains information about using CITES Express Email.
Getting an Express Email account
CITES Express Email accounts are available to current faculty, staff, students, and retirees. Many people already have a CITES Express Email account, even if they haven't used it yet. For instance, students automatically receive an account when they enroll for the first time, and faculty and staff are usually offered an Express Email account when they finish the NESSIE "new hire" process. If you are unsure whether you have an account or want to request one, please contact the CITES Help Desk.
2. Setting your password
Before you can proceed further, you'll need to set your CITES Express Email password at the CITES Password Home Page.
Note: You will need your NetID and NetID password to set your CITES Express Email password. For more information about your NetID and NetID password, please see Your Network ID (NetID).
3. Choosing and setting up your email client
The easiest way to access your Express Email account is through the secure web interface located at https://express.cites.uiuc.edu. Because you need only a computer with an Internet connection and a web browser, no configuration is necessary.
You can also access your CITES Express Email account using a desktop email reader or "client". Detailed configuration instructions for Apple Mail, Eudora, Microsoft Outlook, and Mozilla Thunderbird, as well as general information for setting up other email clients, are available from the Desktop Email Clients page.
