Accessing WebBoard with Netscape Messenger (PC)
This tutorial explains how to configure and use Netscape
Messenger on a PC.
How to Configure
STEP 1
In Netscape Navigator (version 4) click Communicator and select Messenger from the dropdown menu.

STEP 2
In the Messenger window that opens, right-click on news
in the Folder list. Then choose Subscribe to Newsgroups...

STEP 3
In the Account Setup Assistant, enter your name and email
address, if requested. Click the right arrows at the bottom of the window, and
when you are asked for your NNTP server, type webboard.cet.uiuc.edu
in the box. Finally, check the small box labeled "My news
server requires me to log on."

STEP 4
A pop-up window will appear asking you to select the type
of server. Choose "News Server (NNTP)," then
click Continue...

STEP 5
In the Newsgroup Server
Properties dialogue box enter webboard.cet.uiuc.edu
for "Server:" Click OK.

STEP 6
You will be prompted for your username. Please provide your WebBoard login.
You will be asked for your password as well;
please use your WebBoard password.
STEP 7
You should now see a list of newsgroups (WebBoard conferences.)
Every newsgroup that appears on this list should
be associated with a class you are enrolled in that uses WebBoard. If any of your conferences are not present on this list, you should contact the instructor for that class. It is possible that newsgroup access has not been enabled.
Highlight
the name of each conference that you would like to subscribe to and click OK. (You can also use the Subscribe and Unsubscribe buttons.)

STEP 8
You should now see a list of newsgroups in the list
of folders on the left side of your Netscape Messenger window.
