WinZip
Winzip allows you to zip a collection of
files into a single zipped file, which can be easily saved to a disk or uploaded
to a server. (This works especially well for uploading content to Illinois Compass.)
About WinZip
There are a number tools that can be used to zip/unzip files;
for this purpose we will use a free program called WinZip. University faculty,
staff, and students can obtain WinZip for $5.00 through the CITES Software
WebStore.
WinZip has two interfaces; we will focus on the Classic interface.
How to Zip Files
Select the files to be zipped (Ctrl
+ mouse click to select multiple files at once), then right click
on the selected file(s) and choose Add to Zip.

Name the zipped file. If this is your first time zipping
files, you can just ignore the other options and click
Add.

How to Unzip Files
Double click on the zipped files; this will open the WinZip
program windows in the Classic interface. (If it opens in Wizard interface,
click the button WinZip Classic to go to the Classic
interface.)
Click Extract.

Select the folder to which the files should be extracted,
choose All files > Extract.

Note: If you don't want to extract
all of the files that have been zipped, you can select only those files that you
want to extract by right-clicking on each one and clicking Extract.
Then, in the extract window, choose Selected files
(rather than All files).
