Macromedia Dreamweaver

Macromedia Dreamweaver is a web page editor and tool for managing web sites. This means that you can create and edit web pages and structure groups of files into a whole web site without knowing HTML. (Of course, anyone making web pages would benefit from knowing at least a little about how HTML works, but a web page editor like Dreamweaver lets you push buttons while you’re still learning—or if you’re in a hurry.) Dreamweaver has become standard equipment for most webmasters just as Microsoft Word is standard equipment in most offices. Most web professionals would say they couldn't live without it, and it will make even a web novice’s life so much easier that it’s worth the purchase price. It makes things fast and easy for the expert, and at the same time allows you to create your first web site and then grow into complex tasks like forms and embedding movies and other media, without breaking a sweat. Among the features that set Dreamweaver apart is how easy it makes using cascading style sheets (CSS), allowing someone who has never seen a style sheet to create accessible web pages and to precisely control their look. It also offers useful templates and “snippets” of pre-written HTML to make creating web pages faster and easier.

Webmonkey provides a Dreamweaver walk -through, which is a quick and easy-to-follow overview of Dreamweaver.

The official Macromedia Dreamweaver Support Center has online and printable tutorials, answers to common questions, and tips on getting started.

These animated tutorials are from Qarbon's Viewlet Library. They do NOT require you to have, or download, a plug-in. The tutorials advance automatically, and you can use the control buttons in the viewing window to pause or skip ahead. Groovy.
