Accessing Illinois Compass
Logging in to Illinois Compass
Go to http://compass.uiuc.edu. Click on the Login button.

Enter your NetID. NetIDs are case sensitive, so make sure that your Caps Lock key is off and double check your typing.
Your NetID is everything in front of the @ symbol in your campus email address:
e.g., the 'johnsmith' in johnsmith@uiuc.edu. You can check for your own and others' official campus
NetIDs, email addresses, and other information by using the online Campus
Phonebook: http://webtools.uiuc.edu/ows/PH. Just type in a first and last name and run a search. If you need additional help with your NetID, go to Your
Network ID (NetID) on the CITES web site.

Enter Your NetID Password. Passwords are case sensitive, so make sure that your Caps Lock key is off and double check your typing.
If you do not know your NetID Password, go
to the Guide to Passwords on the
CITES web site. To change Your NetID Password, go to the NetID
Password Home Page. (Note: This will change your NetID
Password! This is used for more than Illinois Compass.)
If you have forgotten
your NetID Password, you will need to visit the CITES Help Desk (located in room 1211 of the Digital Computer Lab) and bring photo identification.
If you are off campus, and are unable to change your password
in person at the CITES Account Office, please print the Password
Change Form (HTML
version, PDF
version), fill it out, and fax it to CITES Account Services (the fax number
is on the form).

Once you have logged in, you will see the Illinois Compass portal page.
The portal page has eight areas, including: Course List, Calendar Week, Calendar Day, To Do List,
My Grades, Campus Announcements, Personal Bookmarks, and Campus Bookmarks. Using the Channels, Color, and Layout buttons, you can customize
how your portal page looks.
Your Compass course sites will be listed under the category Course List. Click on the course
name to enter the site. If you do not see a class in which you are enrolled, it
could mean a few things. You may have added the class late (during the add/drop period)
and your instructor has not added you to the course yet. Contact your instructor
to be added to the roster in Illinois Compass. Or, your course may not be using Illinois Compass. Please double-check your syllabus, or with your instructor to make sure your class is using Illinois
Compass this semester.

Browsers
Illinois Compass requires browsers to be configured
properly for all of the advanced tools to work correctly. To check if your browser is compatible, click on the Check Browser link in the upper right-hand corner of your screen.

A pop-up window will appear, letting you know whether or not your browser is compatible with Compass.

For more information, please see Illinois
Compass Browser Tune-up to check if your browser settings are appropriate
for Illinois Compass.
Viewing My Grades
If you have new grades, then the My Grades button (under My Tools on the navigation bar) will indicate this with a green asterisk next to it.
Your My Grades page will show you all of the grades that have been released to you by your instructor. If you do not see your grades, contact your instructor.
