Taking Quizzes
If you have a new quiz, then the Assessments button (under Course Tools on the navigation bar) will indicate this with a green asterisk next to it.
Click on the icon for the quiz that you would like to take.
The Quiz Description Screen tells you the following:
- Quiz Availability
- Duration of the Quiz
- Question Delivery Type
- Attempts Allowed & Number of completed attempts (if any)
Note: The quiz may be formatted in several different ways, depending on how your instructor created it. We advise that you read all of the instructions before you begin.

When you are ready to start taking the quiz, click Begin Assessment.
The quiz will open in a new window. Read each question carefully and select your answer in the appropriate fashion.
After you have answered the question, click Save Answer. You can verify that your answer has been saved by checking the Question Status on the right side of the screen. When an answer has been saved, a check mark will appear under the question number.
The Quiz Status bar on the right side shows the following information:
- Current system time
- Allowed Quiz Duration
- Remaining Time
- Question Status
Always make sure that your answer has been saved before proceeding to the next question. This is especially important if the quiz has been set up so that it doesn't allow you to return to previous questions. (The Quiz Introduction Screen will tell you whether or not questions will be delivered this way.)
Note: If you change the answer to an already saved question, you have to click on the Save Answer button again.
Alternatively, you can answer all of the questions, and save them all at once if the quiz has a lot of questions. Once you click on Finish, you will get a confirmation box if you have any unsaved questions.
Be sure to stay within the time limit (if one has been set), by watching the counter in the top right-hand corner of the quiz screen.
Note: If at any time during the quiz you need help, click the Help button at the top of the quiz screen.
When you have completed all of the questions and saved your answers, scroll to the bottom of the quiz and click Finish.
A pop-up window will appear with "Are you sure you want to submit your assessment?" If you are finished, click OK. The quiz window will close and you will see a message letting you know that your quiz has been submitted for grading.
