Using the File Manager
All files created or uploaded into Illinois
Compass are placed in the File Manager.
To access the File Manager, select the Build tab, and under Designer Tools select File Manger.


From the File Manager main page, you will see all of your course content files. From this view, you can add, edit, preview, move, copy, and delete files. Here's how the File Manger main screen looks:

To modify individual files, click on the dropdown menu next to the file that you want to modify.

To filter your files by type, select the dropdown arrow next to Filter content, select the type of file you would like to filter, and click the green arrow.
Creating New Files and Folders
To create a new HTML file, select Create File.

Enter a File Name and Content description. When you are finished, click Save.

To create a new folder, select Create Folder.

A window will pop-up asking you to name the folder. Click OK when you are finished.

Uploading Files
To upload files from your computer to the File Manger, click Get Files.

This will open a new window where you can select the files you want.
Click on My Computer to upload the needed files.

Alternatively, you can click Cancel and upload multiple files simultaneously by clicking on "Click here to select files individually."

Click on OK when you are done.
