While a visual may be worth a thousand words, capturing and focusing student attention on the most salient points of the graphic can further enhance its value, especially in our multimedia-saturated society. Professor Esfahani will share examples and techniques for using animation and sound to enhance the presentation of visual information in PowerPoint. The techniques an be used in a wide range of subjects, whether quantitative or qualitative material need to be presented.

Join us for a session that reflects on how the evolution of educational technology has served students on and off the Illinois campus in the past and how it is expected to continue into the future.

You Too Can Google! Adding Your Own Info to Google Earth

The Google Earth interface includes a simple technology for overlaying user information onto the surface of the earth (or Mars for that matter). With a simple text editor and your favorite pictures, you can make course-specific, location-specific information readily available for your students. And you can even have them create their own overlays!

Diane Musumeci, Department Head for Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese, will report on the diffusion of IT in one unit's curriculum over a ten-year period to explain the factors that influence successful integration of instructional technology: what worked, what didn't (at least for a while), and what we think will work in the future.
