HighlightsPreparing for the New Illinois CompassOn May 14, 2007 and the beginning with Summer Term I, we will switch over to a new version of the Illinois Compass software for all Compass users and course sites. This Illinois Compass Upgrade offers an improved look and feel, smarter navigation, and new teaching and learning tools and options. The transition should be relatively seamless for students, but instructors and designers are encouraged to learn about the Upgrade by requesting consulting, attending a Lunchtime Learning Showcase or Brown Bag Session, or by exploring our soon-to-be-revised online documentation and training offerings. For the months of March and April, our Illinois Compass support will consist of personalized one-on-one consulting, in-office visits, and custom training while we implement the next version of the software. We are excited about the upgrade to the Illinois Compass system and will be preparing a brand new training program for the new version while we keep our training calendar open. We will continue to offer our other faculty development seminars and workshops, so look for those opportunities on our training calendar. When we resume our full training program in May, Illinois Compass training will be on the upgraded system. It is important to note that all development courses and practice courses (Designer and Instructor Experience by your name) will no longer be available once the new system is online. You can contact us any time for assistance by emailing or calling our offices at 333-1078. For those who can't wait until May to see the latest version of Illinois Compass, we will have several demonstration sessions in March, April, and May where we will preview some of the interface changes and new features in the upgrade. For those who will be teaching in the Fall 2007 semester and want to develop their courses before the system upgrade, please contact us to set-up a consulting appointment.
