Highlights Teaching and Learning with Technology Workshops Faculty Development Weeks August 6-17, 2007 CITES Educational Technologies, along with its partners, has planned workshops for all faculty and instructors teaching with technology to get a head start on planning their courses for the Fall 2007 semester. These workshops feature Illinois Compass, software pilots, and other services to assist faculty and students with technology integration issues. Start of Semester Information Illinois Compass Update With the new and improved Illinois Compass in production now, here are some pointers to be aware of as you plan your Fall classes: If you have not already done so, you should request your Illinois Compass course sites for Fall as soon as possible to beat the rush at: https://edtech.cites.uiuc.edu/CompassSiteRequest Illinois Compass online documentation has been updated for the new version and is available at: http://www.cites.uiuc.edu/edtech/teaching_software/compass/instructors.html You can see the schedule of free EdTech training classes for the new Illinois Compass and sign up at: http://edtech.cites.uiuc.edu/event/calBigEvent.html . EdTech continues to offer free consulting and customized training as well. These can be arranged by contacting edtech@uiuc.edu or 333-1078. You can access an overview of the improvements in the new software at: http://www.cites.uiuc.edu/edtech/teaching_showcase/articles/staff/upgrade/new_tools.html (Significant upgrades were also made to the system hardware as well to continue to enhance system performance.) With the upgrade to the new system has come a new course archiving policy designed to reduce the clutter of old courses you see when you log in and to more efficiently manage older courses on the server. With the new and improved Illinois Compass in production now, here are some pointers to be aware of as you plan your Fall classes:

Illinois Compass online documentation has been updated for the new version and is available at: http://www.cites.uiuc.edu/edtech/teaching_software/compass/instructors.html
