Highlights

Spring 2006 Teaching with Technology Brown Bag Series

Save these date for the CITES Educational Technologies Spring 2006 Brown Bag Series. This semester's offerings include five engaging presentations that highlight and explain emerging technologies. All presentations are held from 12:00 P.M. ~ 1:00 P.M. in 23 Illini Hall, are free and open to the public.

Upcoming presentations include:

  • On February 22, Assistant CIO for Educational Technologies and Associate Professor of Economics Lanny Arvan will be discussing how he has used Illinois Compass and smart classrooms in an honors Economics course, and how his experience is relevant to the broader issues of effectively using educational technologies in higher education.
  • On March 8, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs Burks Oakley will be joining us to discuss how podcasts and RSS are impacting university teaching.
  • On March 29, Joe Grohens of the English department who will discuss how wikis and blogs are helping improve student writing.
  • On April 12, Associate Professor and Digital learning Librarian Lori Mestre will provide an overview of the Learning Commons--a joint Library and CITES initiative to increase student access to technology and facilitate cooperative research.
  • On April 26, Professor  of Educational Psychology & English as an International Language Gary Cziko will discuss working with podcasts and a "Wikibook."

In the hands-on portion of the workshop we will build a new blog, apply a style template, create our first blog post with hyperlinks, images, and more.

BLOGS
