Illinois Compass Upgrade Pilot

Our campus is in the process of a major upgrade to the Illinois Compass learning management system (moving from version 3 to version 4). Before the implementation of the new version across campus in Summer 2007, there will be a pilot phase in Spring 2007. A set of instructors who teach medium to large courses will participate in the pilot program. CITES EdTech will work closely with these instructors to identify and fix any issues that may arise and to make the necessary enhancements before the new version replaces our production system. For more information about the pilot program and the upcoming upgrade please visit our web site:

New Workshops in Web Development for Faculty

Designing and building your own web sites allows you to control how students access your course material and makes it easy to share material with fellow instructors (while also saving valuable time and making new assignments possible).  We are offering a new workshop that will cover everything faculty need to know to get started building their own web sites to aid in their teaching. Topics to be covered include: an introduction to how web servers and HTML work, the basics of web design and development, usability and accessibility, creating and editing pages in Dreamweaver, and publishing web sites in Netfiles or Illinois Compass.
