Beginning of Semester Activities

It is imperative that you request your course site(s) as early as possible to ensure that it is built well ahead of the first day of classes, and to allow time to create and upload your instructional content before the semester begins. Placing a request is as easy as going to our Course Request Page, selecting the courseware system that you intend to use, and completing and submitting the form with your course information.

We encourage you to read our ‘Checklist for Dusting Off Your Illinois Compass Course Site’ showcase article that contains a complete checklist on how to get your course ready for the new semester. This article offers good advice to help you prepare your course for the new semester, including how to change the due dates for your quizzes and assignments.

New in Compass: Hide your Old Course Sites

One of the most requested features in Illinois Compass has become a reality - the ability to hide your old course sites on the course list when you log in to Compass. When you log in to Illinois Compass now, you will see a small pencil icon to the right of the Course List header on your Compass home page. Clicking the pencil icon will take you to a page where you can choose which courses you'd like to hide or show in your list. Hiding a course will not remove your access to it - you can always go back to the Edit Course List page via the pencil icon and show course sites you'd previously hidden. For many this feature will reduce needless clutter from their Compass course page without removing access from older course sites they may need to refer back to. Enjoy!
