Faculty Summer Institute 2006
May 22 - 25, 2006
CITES Educational Technologies , Illinois Online Network, and Conferences and Institutes, a Division of Academic Outreach at University of Illinois are co-hosting this year’s Faculty Summer Institute (FSI) 2006.
The annual Faculty Summer Institute is recognized as one of the premier events on online teaching and learning. The conference gathers over 250 educators, trainers, managers, and designers who are involved in the application of web-based technologies to the teaching and learning process and in the planning, administration, and management of online and blended education programs.
FSI 2006 will bring together the best presentations that emphasize how web-based technologies impact teaching and learning in higher education. Sessions are intended to share the successes, best practices, lessons learned, and issues relevant to e-learning on campus and in day-to-day work. Session themes include:

Emerging Technology Term
Social Bookmarking
Social bookmarking occurs on web based services where shared lists of user-created Internet bookmarks are displayed. Social bookmarking sites generally organize their content using tags and are an increasingly popular way to locate, classify, rank, and share Internet resources.

EdTech is interested in meeting with you one-on-one to redesign, develop, and evaluate your Illinois Compass course sites. We will look at ways to:

- Try out tools you haven't used before, such as online discussions or groups
- Make managing your course easier
- Improve your site's look
- Add multimedia
- Add emerging technologies such as blogs, wikis, and podcasts
