Student Worker - Computer Assistant, #8657
Description: Student workers will work with the professional and student staff of CITES Ed Tech in providing support to UI faculty and students who use the online educational software programs Mallard and Illinois Compass (WebCT Vista). The position also involves composing support documentation and testing of these and other software programs. The student worker may also assist with training sessions and campus presentations. Starting pay is $7.50 an hour, and the position will require an average of 10 - 20 hours of work per week.
Required Skills:
Ability to write clear, concise descriptions of software problems and solutions; capacity to understand technical terminology and translate into common language; motivation to explore and test software; comfortable working with Netscape and Internet Explorer, Windows and Macintosh; ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as in a collaborative environment.
Additional Helpful Experience:
Experience with Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, and/or experience with streaming media, web and graphic design would be welcome. Authoring of reports, manuals, proposals, and technical documents of any kind; incorporating and creating explanatory graphics in educational/training documents.
