Location

Travel arrangements to and from the conference are the responsibility of the individual registrants, and not included in the registration fee.

The conference will be held at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Champaign and Urbana are located in the East Central part of Illinois at the intersection of Interstate Highways I-57, I-74, and I-72. The cities are conveniently located 138 miles south of Chicago (2.5 hour drive from O'Hare International Airport), 124 miles west of Indianapolis, and 168 miles northeast of St. Louis.

Willard Airport in Champaign/Savoy (approximately 5 miles south of campus) is the closest airport to the University of Illinois. Daily flights are offered to and from Chicago O'Hare (by American Eagle), Detroit (by Northwest Airlink), Cincinnati (by Delta/Comair), and Dallas/Ft. Worth (by American Eagle). It is a small though modern airport with four gates, operated by the University of Illinois. The airport code is CMI.

Taxi and limo service is available at Willard Airport for the short trip to the Historic Lincoln Hotel (209 S. Broadway Ave., Urbana) and the University campus.

Other modes of transportation to Champaign-Urbana from throughout the region include: Lincolnland Express Bus, Greyhound Bus, and Amtrak Trains.

The award-winning local bus system is the Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District (MTD). MTD has bus routes throughout the campus and two communities.

Parking

Parking on campus is very limited, particularly near the Illini Union.

We recommend that you purchase Day Meter Permits for FSI 2007. The Day Meter Permits are available at a cost of $7 per day and may be used at University meters only (not city meters). University meters are designated by the block “I” displayed across the top of the meter. They become valid when you scratch off the month, day, and year and place the permit on the rearview mirror with the date displayed toward the windshield. These are one day use permits only. Day Meter Permits are available for purchase on-line or in-person at the Parking Office (1110 W. Springfield, Public Safety Building, 2nd Floor, Urbana) during business hours (8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M., Monday-Friday).
