ED Changes Completed:
Update on Coming Changes in Electronic Directory Data

This document was posted on January 10, 2004. For more recent information, see the Office Addresses and Phones in ED page.

The first update of the Electronic Directory (ED; formerly known as PH) from Decision Support's Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) has been completed successfully. There was a problem with the first attempt, but the second attempt worked smoothly and was done about 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 10. After reconciling to make sure the exact changes expected had occurred, ED was put back into its normal read/write mode at about 7 p.m.

So the unit code (home_dept_code) and department name changes are in now in effect, and the name fields for people were updated if there were changes in EDW from what was in ED.

These same changes are being applied to the LDAP server (ldap.uiuc.edu) at this moment. We believe the intent is to apply the necessary changes to Active Directory (AD) this weekend also.

We will keep you updated as to when we will also begin updating office address and phone from EDW (which should be sometime during this next week) and also on any progress we make in understanding how we can update home addresses and phones and still successfully honor employee suppression requests.
