UIUC 800 Number Dialup Access

This page contains information about connecting to UIUCnet via 800 number.

Introduction

The primary purpose of the personal UIUC 800 number service is to provide UIUC affiliates with an inexpensive way to access the CITES modem pools from anywhere in the country. UIUC 800 number access allows you to connect to both the UIUCnet Premier modems and the UIUCnet Dialup modems. You can also use this personal 800 number to call campus numbers from anywhere in the US.

The 800 number costs $.15 per minute when calling to CITES Terminal Servers and Premier, and $.50 per minute to all other campus and local telephone numbers.

The CITES business office provides you with a personal access number (sent either through physical mail or to an @uiuc.edu email address). A $5.00 installation fee is charged for setting up the personal access number for both individuals and administrators. Protect this number; like a password, it is used with the 800 number to charge your personal account for the time spent on the UIUC 800 number line.
