Oracle Calendar Basics

Logging in

  1. Open Oracle Calendar.
  2. On the Sign-in dialog box, for each field enter:
    • User name: your NetID (for example, Jane Doe's NetID is jdoe)
    • Password: your Oracle Calendar password, which you set in Step 2 on the Getting Started page.
  3. Click the Sign-in button.

The in-tray

The in-tray is the first screen you see after logging in to Oracle Calendar (unless you have turned this feature off). Here you will see new entries that other people have scheduled for you. From the in-tray you can accept and refuse new entries and view entries that you have sent out. When you're finished working in the in-tray, close it to view your agenda pane.

The in-tray is organized with folders. Double-click on a folder to view its contents. Double-click again to close the folder.

Working with new entries

  1. Click and drag the entry from the New Entries folder to the Entries you've accepted or Entries you've refused folder.
    OR
  2. Right-click (Windows) or control-click (Macs) and choose Will attend, Will Not Attend, or Will Confirm Later from the shortcut menu.

 

The agenda pane

The agenda pane is the screen in which you view your schedule and work with events. In the agenda below, normal office hours are displayed in white and other times are grayed out. Events are displayed in various colors, depending on customizable preferences.

Icons displayed for each event indicate the event's status and details:

  • The people icon indicates that you have invited people to the event.
  • The pencil icon indicates that details have been entered for the event.
  • The paper icon shows that a file has been attached to the event.
  • Attendance is indicated by:
    • a checkmark for "I will attend"
    • an "x" for "I will not attend"
    • a question mark for "I will confirm later"
  • Daily Notes are represented by a thumb tack .
  • Day Events are marked with a flag .

The toolbar contains many useful shortcuts:

  • Open In-tray
  • Open Your Agenda
  • Open Your Tasks
  • Open Your Address Book
  • Open Group Agenda
  • Open Agenda (for another person)
  • Open Tasks (for another person)
  • View Day
  • View Week
  • View Month
  • New Meeting
  • New Task
  • New Day Event
  • New Daily Note
  • Search Agenda
  • Print
  • Navigation buttons move you differently depending on which view (Day, Week, Month) you are using. The buttons, from left to right, function:
    • back multiple units (months, weeks, or days)
    • back 1 unit
    • current
    • forward 1 unit
    • forward multiple units
  • Select New Date (move to a specific date in your agenda)
